Welcome!
If you are hoping to find an experienced, highly skilled and ethical psychologist who brings a practical perspective into sessions (along with a dash of sarcasm and dark humour), then your search might be over. While I provide space/time for you to express and explore your most vulnerable and distressing experiences, I am also directive to support you in processing emotions and gaining traction in your life in a timely manner. I assume you want to make improvements as quickly as possible, and I won’t live forever; therefore, let’s not waste time going in circles.
My niche is supporting people who have been impacted by trauma, workplace injuries, chronic pain, and chronic illnesses, such as cancer, long-haul COVID19, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia. I also support people in addressing symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, driving anxiety, relationship concerns, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and difficulties during life transitions and periods of high stress. I serve people living in Alberta and New Brunswick (NB residents can only have virtual/online sessions).
The majority of my training has been in cognitive behavioral therapies (i.e. CBT and REBT). I also have training in Emotion-Focused Therapy, EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I). I use these approaches (as well as others) to adapt my treatment plans based on what will be most helpful for you.
I am a real person who happens to love both my career and seeing people improve their quality of life. And due to being a mere mortal, there are times when my personality may not jive with someone - in such cases I happily provide referral options to one of my favourite and most respected psychologists who I think could be a better match. I am focused on what will be the most helpful for you!
If you 1) want to do some real work in counselling to make significant improvements in your life and 2) you think my personality might be a good match for you, then please contact me for an initial consult.
If you’re getting the impression that I’m not for you, then feel free to contact me for a referral to one of my favourite psychologists. Otherwise, I wish you all the best in your mental health recovery, and thank you for visiting my site!
